Job Description: Youth Director (Part Time 20 hours or Full Time 40 hours)
Church Mission: The mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Church Vision: Sharing and experiencing the life-giving message of Jesus, to restore wholeness and build and intentional community of hope, relationship, and purpose for everyone.
Main Objectives:
- To lead students in practices of worship, prayer, scripture reading, service to others, and fellowship to act as a foundation upon which they can build their faith in years to come.
- Bring structure and organization to the youth ministry as it grows and develops.
Qualifications:
- Have a calling and desire to share the gospel of Jesus.
- Support the vision, values, and beliefs of Solid Rock UMC.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Be team oriented; be able to work with a team of volunteers
- Have excellent organizational skills; able to plan, prepare, and implement programs and activities.
- Previous experience working with children / youth is a plus.
- Pass a background check.
Responsibilities: Rock Foundations (4-6th grade) and Rock Solid Youth (7-12th grade)
- Build strong and lasting relationships with students.
- Develop and implement Bible based discipleship lessons.
- Plan and lead periodic youth group events.
- Examples: outings, fund raisers, parties, service projects, retreats, etc.
- Attend after school events of students
- Examples: sporting events, drama, choir / band concerts, etc.
- Attend summer camps of students attending camp
- Recruit and train volunteers
- Plan and develop a schedule / rotation for volunteers.
- Communicate well with parents and come alongside families.
- Engage parents as vital partners in discipling their children.
- Plan and organize a schedule for parents.
- Communicate well with church leaders and others in the church.
- Give a monthly report / update to AD Council.
- Write a monthly newsletter article.
- Examples: updates / upcoming events.
- Oversee the youth budget along with the lead pastor.
- Plan and organize the Youth Christmas Eve Service with the worship team.
- Be an active member of The WAY (Warren Area Youth).
- Provide support for Children’s ministry – Curriculum for Sunday School, Children’s Church and Kids Club.
- Meet on a regular basis with the lead pastor.
- Spiritual growth, guidance, and accountability.
Salary $14K/$28K, plus some mileage reimbursement
